George R. Dillow, 90, of Somerdale, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 in the Community Hospice Truman House surrounded by his loving family.
Born September 22, 1927 in Indianapolis, Indiana he was a son of the late John and Anna Rausch Dillow. George was also preceded in death by a brother, Bill Dillow and two sisters, Irene Dillow and Florence Mullins.
George served his country with the US Army during WW II and retired from Roadway Express in Columbus after 34 years of service. He was a member of the New Cumberland United Methodist Church and was a proud member of the Teamsters Local #413 in Columbus. George loved all animals, but especially loved taking care of his cats. In his spare time, he enjoyed fishing, boating and camping.
George is survived by his wife, and best friend of 44 years, Patricia “Pat” Hiller Dillow whom he married on November 23, 1973; daughter, Kimberly (John) Boyle of Mississippi; brothers and sisters in law, Larry (Betty) Hiller of Sherrodsville, Timothy (Deana) Hiller of New Philadelphia, Nancy (Bill) Housel of Sunbury; three grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. A service celebrating George’s life will be held on Saturday, April 14th at 2:00 pm in the New Cumberland United Methodist Church with John Campbell officiating. Friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
