Gerald D. “Jerry” McCluney, 67, of Dover, Ohio died Tuesday, May 22, 2007 in his home following a sudden illness.
Jerry retired in 1983 from the United States Army following 21 ½ years of service including the Viet Nam War. He retired as a Master Sergeant. He also worked from 1984-2001 for the Tuscarawas County Public Library where he drove the bookmobile.
Born August 7, 1939 in Dover, he was the son of the late Roy and Mary Baab McCluney.
Jerry was known for his mechanical abilities. He was a member of the Dover VFW and the Tusco Rifle Club. He enjoyed riding motorcycles and was a member of the Gold Wing Road Riders Assn. He also loved flying radio controlled airplanes and traveling.
In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his first wife, Mildred “Midge” White McCluney who died March 21, 1984 along with his brother, Robert McCluney, infant brother, Richard McCluney and his sister in law, Shirley McCluney.
He is survived by his wife, Sheila Siegenthaler McCluney with whom he celebrated 19 years of marriage on March 19; three children, Carolyn McCluney of Colorado Springs, Colorado, David (Lisa) McCluney of Clintonville, Pennsylvania, and Patrick McCluney of Strasburg; nine grandchildren, Sean Peat, Tabbatha Hamilton, Samantha Hamilton, Serena Hamilton, William Hamilton, Stephanie McCue, Christopher McCue, Makaila McCluney and Abigail McCluney; a sister, Kathryn (Bob) Campbell of Dover; brother, Carl McCluney of Gainesville, Florida and a sister in law, Tess McCluney of Dover and many great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service celebrating Jerry�(TM)s life will be held Saturday, May 26, 2007 at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover with Pastor Ed Scaglione officiating.Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8pm.
