Gerald B. Murphy, 84, of Strasburg, and formerly of Dover, passed away suddenly, entering his eternal home on Monday, April 14, 2025.
Born on January 29, 1941 in Burnsville, West Virginia he was a son of the late Joseph and Retha Tomblin Murphy. Gerald was also preceded in death by his son, Larry Murphy; three brothers and five sisters.
He retired from A. Schulman Co. in Sharon Center and had also worked for Greer Steel for many years. Always one to stay busy, following his retirement, he enjoyed working on Gravely tractors and attending classic car shows. Gerald was a member of the Reformation Bible Church in Beach City, and had taught Bible classes at numerous nursing homes in the area. He was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ with whom he now dwells. He was a kind, loving and wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Cherryll Kaltenbaugh Murphy whom he married on August 28, 1976; children, Jerry (Susan) Murphy of Dover, Josh Murphy of Arizona, Tyler (Kathy) Wallick of Dover; sister, Twila (Rick) Brown of Strasburg; brothers, Joe (Elaine) Murphy of Sherrodsville, Darrel (Linda) Murphy of Hawaii, Doyle (Darlene) Murphy of Mineral City, Steve (Karen) Murphy of Twinsburg; seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Strasburg. A celebration of Gerald’s life will be held on Thursday, April 17th starting at 11:00 am in the Reformation Bible Church at 100 Main St E, Beach City, OH 44608.
