Geraldine Mckenna

E. Geraldine "Gerri" McKenna, 86, of Bolivar, Ohio died Saturday, February 23, 2008 in her home following an extended illness.

Born October 12, 1921 in New Rumley, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Harvey R. and Hazel R. (Manbeck) Salmon.

Gerri was a licensed practical nurse having worked for Dr. Jim Scott in Scio for many years and the Hennis Care Centre at Dover.

She was a member of the L.P.N.A.O., the American Legion Auxiliary and the Order Of Eastern Star both in Scio and the New Rumley United Brethren Church. She enjoyed reading and listening to Big Band music with her husband Bill and the two of them also enjoyed traveling.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William P. "Bill" McKenna who died May 29, 2004.

Gerri is survived by two children; Robert (Sarah) Carrier of Strasburg and Betsy Gortney of New Philadelphia; three grandchildren, Heath and Jason Gortney both of New Philadelphia and Erika Carrier of Magnolia; six great grandchildren, Jacob, Zack, Baily, Kadin, Colin, and Carolyn.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover with Pastor David Wing officiating. Interment will be in the Fairview Cemetery at Jewett. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-7pm.
