Geraldine Ruth Holdsworth

Geraldine Ruth Holdsworth, 83, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, Sept. 13, 2003, in Union Hospital, Dover.

Born Jan. 29, 1920, in Coshocton, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Nellie Blanche Pepper Chaney. Geraldine was a loving homemaker whose life revolved around her family. She was a member of the Ladies of the Knights of Pythias, and the B and A Primitive Weapons Club. Geraldine enjoyed reading, sewing, crafts, cooking and baking. In years past, she also liked to go bowling.

Survivors include her husband, Ward T. “Ted” Holdsworth, Sr., whom she married on Oct. 26, 1935, in Wheeling, WV; three sons, Forrest Eugene (Shirley) Holdsworth of Bolivar, Ward T. (Linda) Holdsworth, Jr. and Jerry Allen (Sally) Holdsworth, both of New Philadelphia; eight grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Albert “Buss” Chaney of Coshocton; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, a great-grandson, and a brother.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 17, at 11 a.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, with Pastor Michael E. Walters of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, New Philadelphia, officiating. Burial will be in East Avenue Cemetery, New Philadelphia. Following the committal, family and friends are invited to a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, 831 Boulevard, Dover.
