Gertrude E. Minard, 88, of San Diego, California, and a former Dover resident, passed away Thursday, September 13, 2001 in a San Diego Hospice Facility, from injuries received in a fall on April 21.
Born September 25, 1912 near Dover, she was daughter of the late Hayden & Katherine Buese Minard.
She graduated from Dover High School, class of 1930. For a number of years she worked in the office of Dr. Edgar Davis, Sr. at the Dover Clinic. In 1943, after training for an X-ray Technician, she moved to San Diego. She retired in 1977 as Courtroom Clerk of San Diego Municipal Court after 25 years of service.
In retirement she joined the annual Oxford-Smithsonian Seminar, journeying to Oxford University in England a number of times. She also did volunteer work for the American Cancer Society.
Gertrude is survived by two sisters, Alice (Tom) Lea of Millersburg and Ruth Minard Herman of Sugarcreek, 5 nieces, 3 nephews and a number of grand nieces and nephews.
She was currently a member of the Tuscarawas County Geneology, a former member of Winfield United Brethren Church and the Junior Literacy Society in Dover.
A public graveside service will be held Thursday, September 20 at 1:30pm in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Dover with Rev. Dairel Kaiser officiating. There are no calling hours.
