Gladys E. Gerber

Gladys E. Gerber, 93, of Dover, died Saturday, February 23, 2002 in the New Dawn Health Care Center.

She had been a longtime employee of the former Surety Savings and Loan of Dover.

Born November 29, 1908 at Rittman, she was daughter of the late Henry P. & Addie Schneider Sigler.

Gladys was an active member of the Grace Lutheran Church at Dover where she had also been involved as a member of the Altar Guild, the JC Miller Sunday School class, the Mary Bair Church Circle and as a Friendly Visitor for the church.

Additionally, Gladys was a member of the Women's Study Club of Dover, Salvation Army Auxiliary, a life member of the Dover Historical Society, Senior Center of Dover and the National Association of Federal Employees.

She was preceded in death by her husband, former Dover postmaster Durbin W. Gerber, who died September 18, 1976.

Survivors include: a son, John D. & Patti Gerber of Boulder, Colorado, two step-daughters; Mrs. Al (Louise) Spaulding of Cuyahoga Falls and Barbara Stuhlmiller of Naples, Florida, two grandsons; Mark & Neal Gerber, step grandchildren; Susanna (Steve) King of Salida, Colrado, Tom (Judy) Spaulding of White Plains, New York, Gretchen (Steve) Feldmaier of Marietta and Andrew (Mary) Stuhlmiller of Springboro, numerous step great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, Gladys was preceded in death by 4 brothers and 3 sisters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 2, at 12:00 noon in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Pastor Brian Nunnally officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00am until time of services at noon.
