Gladys M. Stotzer

February 21, 1932 — April 29, 2017

Gladys M. Stotzer, 85, of Mineral City passed away at the Inn at Northwood Village in Dover on Saturday, April 29, 2017.

On February 21, 1932 she was born on her family farm in Baltic. Her parents were Floyd and Emma (Hoffman) Young. She graduated from Baltic High School where she was valedictorian of the class of 1950. She attended Kent State University for two years. On September 21, 1952 she married Walter Stotzer. Through the years, she traveled through 50 states and five continents. She especially loved her return trips to Switzerland. Her favorite place was the time spent on the family farm, Stotzer Dairy Farm, where Walter and her sons worked together. She enjoyed the farm life and especially enjoyed milking the cows. She was proud of her vegetable garden and flowers, which she exhibited at the county fair. She enjoyed family gatherings and attending sporting activities that her children and grandchildren participated in. She was a member of the Canton Ladies Swiss Society, Tuscarawas County Farm Bureau, Ragersville Historical Society, and St. Paul’s Community Church in Mineral City.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, Walter, whom she was married for 64 years; Mike (Kim) Stotzer, Dave (Kathy) Stotzer both of Mineral City, Dan (Lori) Stotzer of Zoarville; a brother, John (Ruth) Young; sister, Margene (John “Pete”) Hicks; six grandchildren, Nick (Leah) Stotzer, Steph (Anthony) Pariano, Kyle Stotzer, Megan Stotzer, Lauren Stotzer, and Logan Stotzer; two great grandchildren, Brianna and Brayden Stotzer; three sisters in law, Ruth Breniser, Helen (Vic) Kollar, and Janet Stotzer.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother; Raymond Young; brothers and sisters in law, Frieda Lieser, Grace Specht, Dorothy Young, Martha Leeman, Mary Kilchenman, Clara Vogt, Ida Schaffer, and John and Robert Stotzer, Fritz Stotzer.

Friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 from 5-8pm. A celebration of Gladys’ life will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at 10am with Pastor Mark Gross officiating. Interment will be at New Cumberland Cemetery.
