Glen E. McCarty, 72, of Dundee went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, September 6, 2006 at Union Hospital.
He retired from Republic Engineered Steel in Massillon after 42 years of service.
Born December 22, 1933 in Pleasant City, Ohio he was a son of the late Nearess and Alma Bond McCarty.
Glen was a member of the Believers Assembly Church in Beach City. He had also attended the First Freewill Baptist Church in Massillon where he taught the youth Sunday school class as well as served as a Deacon for many years. In his spare time Glen enjoyed woodworking, collecting antiques and raising horses. He was also an Army veteran having been stationed in Germany.
Glen was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Vivian Ankrum McCarty who passed away on January 24, 2003, and is survived by his second wife, Sharon Baisden McCarty with whom he would have celebrated three years of marriage on November 7, 2006.
He is also survived by a son, Jeff McCarty of Dundee and his special friend, Debb Betts of New Philadelphia; daughter, Deb (Ed) Estep of Dundee; step daughter, Amanda (Billy) Morton of Columbus; two brothers, Charles (Terry) McCarty of Hebron and Roy (Mary Jane) McCarty of Massillon; four sisters, Alice (Paul) Fisk of Massillon, Ruth Yarnell of Massillon, Louella (Ken) Lanning of Massillon and Laura (Ralph) Combs of Columbus; four grandchildren, Brittany (Josh) Beall, Kara McQuaid, Logan Estep, Tiffany (Steve) Marcurella; one great granddaughter, Tori Marcurella.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 9, 2006 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover with Pastor Gene Cooper and Rev. David Adkins officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends can call at the funeral home on Friday from 5-8 pm.
