Glenda M. Jentes, age 91, a long-time resident of Glenview Ave. at Dover, died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at The Inn at Belden Village in Canton.
Born December 12, 1922, in Neffs, Ohio, she was a daughter of the late Jerd and Ida Rufner Shook. Glenda moved at a young age with her family to Dover, and graduated from Dover High School. She married Donald "Don" Jentes on July 25, 1947, and the couple shared nearly forty-three years of marriage prior to Don's passing on July 6, 1990. In addition to being a loving homemaker, Glenda was employed by the A & P Company in Dover for thirty-three years, retiring in 1973.
One of Glenda's favorite pastimes was to paint plates with beautiful floral designs. She loved the poodles that she owned over the years. She enjoyed gardening, growing both vegetables and flowers. Also, Glenda and Don enjoyed traveling.
Survivors include her sister, Mildred Moore of Canton; her brother, Norman Shook (Clara) of Dover; and her nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and her beloved husband, Don, Glenda was preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Tom Moore.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover on Friday, April 4, 10 11 a.m. A funeral service will follow at 11, officiated by Pastor John B. Wallace of the First Moravian Church in Dover. Burial will be in Dover Burial Park.
