Glenda M. Thomas, age 96, of Dalton and a former resident of Strasburg, passed away Tuesday, February 22, 2022, in her home.

Born March 21, 1925, in Cleveland, she was a daughter of the late George and Helen Spiker Sewell. Glenda attended Dover High School and went on to study at Walsh College (now Walsh University) becoming a licensed practical nurse. She retired from Massillon State Hospital following 29 years of service. Glenda married Kenneth D. Thomas on August 14, 1943; the couple raised three children and shared 72 years of marriage prior to Kenneth’s passing on February 3, 2016.

Glenda belonged to the Strasburg United Methodist Church, and she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. One of her favorite pastimes was watching the birds around her home.

Glenda is survived by her children, Keith (Norma) Thomas of Dover, and Carol (David) Stidd and Linda Thomas, both of Dalton; her grandchildren, Chris (Nicole), Thom (Kelly), Stacie (Steve), Natalie (Chris), Holly (Mike) and Doug (Caitlin); her 11 great-grandchildren; her sister, Helen; and her nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents and her husband, Kenneth, Glenda was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Cole Surmay; and by her three sisters and three brothers.
