Glenn L. Bair, 87, a lifelong resident of Dover died Sunday evening, June 10, 2012 in Aultman Hospital at Canton following complications from a fall.
Glenn was born January 14, 1925 in Dover, the son of the late Raymond and Cora (Wendling) Bair. In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his first wife, Constance (Mosley) Bair who died Oct. 31, 1948 and June (Horn) Bair who died Oct. 2, 2004; a brother, James Bair; a grandson, Kevin Eckhardt, and his father in law and mother in law, Earl and Nellie Mosley are also deceased.
Glenn retired in 1986 as a steam engineer for the Dover Light Plant where he worked for over 22 years.
He was a lifetime member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover and its Men's Fellowship. He was also active in the Dover American Legion Post, the 40 et 8, the former Dover VFW and the former Dover Elks Lodge. He graduated from Dover High School in 1943 and then proudly served his country in the US Navy during World War II having been in the Armed Guard and was responsible for escorting merchant ships to Europe from the U.S.
He will be sadly missed by his family including four daughters Constance (Richard) Eckhardt, Judith (Terry) Menges, Deborah (Jeff) Wallick, and Glenna Bair all of Dover; eight grandchildren, Tammy (Rod) Kopp, Jamie (Terri) Menges, Kelly (Jason) Hall, Chadd (Dani) Wallick, Jeff (Karen) Wallick, Jason (Kelly) Wallick, Todd (Lindsay) Wallick, and Kayleigh Bair; two stepdaughters, Sue Blind and Barb Penrod both of Dover; five step grandchildren, Scott (fianc, Wenny) Blind, Kerri (Scott) Bayless, Aaron (Lisa) Blind, Carla (Bobby) Wilsterman, and Nathan Penrod; 22 great grandchildren, 9 step great grandchildren, two sisters, Ruth (Sam) Tschantz, and Joyce (Robert) Brewer both of Dover; one brother, Raymond Bair of Florida; a brother in law, Bob (Gloria) Mosley of Dover; his former wife, Joanne McDonald of Dover; six nieces and nephews and his special friends at Park Village Assisted Living North.
A funeral service celebrating Glenn's life will be held Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 11:00am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Gene Kraus officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5-8pm.
