Glenn R. Jenkins, 81, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, Jun. 6, 2004 �" the sixtieth anniversary of D-Day, following a brief illness.
Born Dec. 24, 1922, in New Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Glenn W. and Hazel M. Winkler Jenkins. Glenn was a 1940 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. He served with the United States Army in the European Theater during World War II, and was honored with the Purple Heart, the Good Conduct Medal and four Bronze Stars. Glenn later served his country honorably during the Korean Conflict. Following his service time, he attended Kent State University.
He retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was also a barber, bartender and pilot. Glenn was a member of the National Association of Letter Carriers, B.P.O.E. 510, life member of V.F.W. Post 1445, D.A.V. and the Loyal Order of Moose, all of New Philadelphia.
A military graveside service will be conducted Saturday, Jun. 12, in East Avenue Cemetery, New Philadelphia, by members of V.F.W. Post 1445. To sign the online register and share a fond memory of Glenn, please visit the funeral home�(TM)s Web site.
