Gloria L. Mosley 80, of Dover passed away peacefully Saturday morning November 28, 2015 with her husband, son and daughters by her side. Born on December 29, 1934 in Dover, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ethel (Bannister) Fankhauser. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Robert "Ernie" Mosley and sister, Barbara Lee Blickensderfer.
Gloria graduated from Dover High School in 1953. On Saturday November 26 1955 Gloria married Robert J. Mosley at St. Joseph's Church marking their 60th Anniversary on Thanksgiving Day this year. Robert was in the Navy the first six years of their marriage during which time they traveled throughout the USA. Gloria enjoyed the adventure and opportunities to work various jobs such as her time at Harvard University in Cambridge, MA where she was able to hear then Senator John F. Kennedy give the commencement speech to the graduating class. Upon returning to Ohio, Gloria was "employed" in her favorite job as wife and mother. Enjoying her family she also was able to actively participate in the Democratic Women's Assoc. serving as the chair on the precinct and Democratic Executive Committees. She was also a honored recipient of the Gertude W. Donahey Award. She was an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church for many years serving as a lector. She enjoyed bowling, playing bridge and having long conversations with her family and friends whom she cherished.
After raising her four children Gloria returned to work outside her home working for the Tuscarawas County Clerk of Courts office, retiring after 25 years of service.
In addition to her husband Bob, she will be sadly missed by her children; Michele (Dan) Walker of Dover, Rocky (Vivian) Mosley of Bolivar, Catherine (Bob) Gerber of New Philadelphia, and Susan (Paul) Rosenberry of Dover; eleven grandchildren, Danielle, Natalee and Carly Walker, Rachael, Michael, Samuel and Abbey Mosley, Hannah, Sara and Ellie Gerber and Max Rosenberry; three great-grandchildren, Aiden Walker, Charlie Jo and Maximus Mosley.
A mass will take place at St. Joseph's Catholic Church on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 10:00 AM. With father Jimmy Hatfield officiating. In honoring Gloria's wishes there will be no public calling hours but friends and family are welcome to attend the mass, burial committal following the mass at Calvary Cemetery SR39 Dover and a reception luncheon with the family at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
