Grace E. Thomas

Grace E. Thomas, 86, of New Philadelphia, died Saturday, December 23, 2006, in the Country Club Retirement Center.

She was born February 2, 1920, at Dover, the daughter of the late Walter and Helen Geib Miller.

In 1988, Grace retired from Marlite after working in the business office for many years.

She had been a member of the Grace Lutheran Church in Dover and it�(TM)s Mary Baer Circle. Grace was a talented musician who, in addition to playing bass violin, enjoyed playing piano well into her later years. She was an animal lover, seemingly always having a dog or cat around the house. Her love of animals was also on display almost daily for those who watched her feed the geese, ducks and other wild birds, outside her New Philadelphia home. With a son, son-in-law, and eventually a grandson who each served in the U.S. Navy, Grace took great pride in her affiliation with local Navy Mothers activities.

Surviving family members include: a daughter, Gwen (Carl E.) Blumenauer of New Philadelphia; a son, Wayne (Judy) Thomas of Dover; two sisters, Ruth Halter of Dover and Kay McCoy of Bolivar; four grandchildren, Kimberli R. Knoll, Carl B. (Heather) Blumenauer, and Matthew & Nathan Thomas; and two great grandchildren, Jacob & Skylar.

Kenard Parrott and Dave Dahlstein will officiate a service celebrating Grace�(TM)s life on Tuesday, December 26, in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. The ceremony will begin at 11:00 a.m. with a memorial video presentation. Following the service, a light lunch will be served for family and friends in the First Christian Church, 3029 N. Wooster Ave., Dover.
