Grace G. Krantz Rhodes, 87, of Dover, died Saturday,
January 31, 2009 in Union Hospital following a sudden illness.
Born on June 10, 1921 in Herrick, Ohio, she was the
daughter of the late Desire and Marie Arnold DeCeuster.
She graduated from Brewster High School and later married her first husband, Joseph J. Krantz, who preceded her in death. An infant son and her brother, Joe DeCeuster, also precede her in death.
Grace worked as a cake decorator for Nickels Bakery for over 18 years. She was a member of the former St.
Aloysius Catholic Church in Strasburg. Grace began
golfing in 1972 and in her short time playing was able to make three holes in one. She was also an avid reader.
She is survived by her husband, Fred Rhodes with whom she married on December 28, 1971; three sons; Walter (wife, Jenny) Krantz of Indiana, Joseph "John" (wife, Peg) Krantz of Dover, and Donald "Duck" (wife, Judy) Krantz of Strasburg; four daughters, Mary (husband, Roger) Gilkerson of Strasburg, Susan (husband, Ray) Wallace of North Carolina, Patty (husband, Duane) Stull of Strasburg, and Robin Rhodes of Virginia; her brother, John (wife, Julia) DeCeuster of Smithville; her sister, Vivian McDonald of Brewster; two sisters-in-law, Ida DeCeuster of Dover and Pauline D'Aurora of Florida, along with 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
A private graveside service will be held on Wednesday,
February 4, 2009 in the St. Aloysius Cemetery at
Strasburg. Those wishing to express a their fondest
