Greta Lieser, 89, of the Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar, and formerly of East Sparta and Dover Ohio, joined Heaven's Choir on December 26, 2017.
Greta was born to Reuben Haney and Helen Mar (Kennedy) Haney on September 16th, 1928, on the family farm near New Cumberland Ohio.
Greta loved music all her life. She studied voice and piano, and was a member of the choir at St. Johns United Church of Christ in Dover for many years. She was well known for her beautiful voice and was a soloist at many weddings and music club, and for singing 'Oh Holy Night' during the Christmas-eve service at St Johns. Greta also loved to garden, and surrounded herself with beautiful flowers wherever she lived.
In 1951 Greta married the love of her life James (Jim) Lieser. Together they raised 3 sons and celebrated 64 happy years of marriage before his passing in 2015. In addition to her parents, Greta was preceded in death by her brothers Joe, Don, and Marvin, and sisters Helen, Norma, and Wilda.
She is survived by her brother, Bill Haney, of Mineral City, Ohio. Greta will be sadly missed by her sons, Joseph B. (Anita) Lieser of Marblehead, Ohio, Keith (Krista Rabe) Lieser of Scottsdale, Ariz. and Peter (Dana) Lieser of Liberty Township, Ohio; three grandchildren, Eric Lieser (Taryn Riddle) of Phoenix AZ, Carrie (Jason) Aloisi of Hudson, MA, Zachary Lieser (Ashley Elm) of Phoenix AZ and great-granddaughter, Raelynn Lieser; and soon to arrive great grand-daughter, Scarlett, both of Phoenix.
Friends and family may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover, OH, on Friday December 29, from 10 am until Noon. Funeral services will be held immediately following visitation, with the Rev. Thomas Dunkle officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Following the burial, all are invited to a reception in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center, Dover, OH.
