Harlan R. Hiltner, 95, of Dover died early Tuesday morning, Feb. 24, 2015 in the Park Village Health Care Center at Dover.
Harlan retired in 1984 as Auditor of the Times Reporter newspaper following 17 years of service. He had previously worked for Twin Cities Concrete Company for many years.
Born April 7, 1919 in Coshocton County, Ohio, he was the son of the late Milton and Ada (Neldon) Hiltner.
Harlan was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps. during WW 2. He had many interests and hobbies including photography, woodworking and gardening and enjoyed his daily reading of the national newspapers.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Arline I. (Schenk) Hiltner who died March 12, 2009.
He will be missed by his family including three children, Nancy (John) Pierpont of Riverview, Florida, Karl Hiltner of Hudson, Ohio and Dale Hiltner of St. Louis, Missouri; six grandchildren, David (Stacy) Pierpont, Karl (Kristie) Pierpont, Karen (Brian) Pierpont Labit, Nicholas, Emelia and Stephen Hiltner; five great grandchildren, Erin, Shane, Kash, Koy and Keene Pierpont.
Funeral services celebrating Harlan's life will be held Monday, March 2, 2015 beginning at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Dover with Rev. Thomas Dunkle officiating. Following the service, military honors will be conducted by the Dover VFW in the Dover Burial Park. A reception will follow the services in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4pm.
