Harold O. Walton

Harold O. Walton, 91, of Dover died Tuesday, February 26, 2013 in the Country Club Retirement Center.

He retired from I.F. Manufacturing in New Philadelphia after many years of service.

Born December 14, 1921 in New Philadelphia he was a son of the late Charles and Clara Swinderman Walton. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Lloyd and Dale Walton and a son in law, Mark Pietsch.

Harold was a 1940 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and on September 6, 1942 he married the former Cleva Reynolds, with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage this past September. Just a little over a month after his marriage, Harold proudly served his country in the US Army during WW II. He attended Valley View Community Church in Sugarcreek and had been a member of the First Baptist Church in New Philadelphia. Harold loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren, he was also known as a reliable handy man who could fix just about anything. He would always go out of his way to help family and friends.

A wonderful and loving husband, father and grandfather, Harold will be sadly missed by his wife, Cleva; children, Judy Pietsch of Mt. Vernon and Jim (Kathy) Walton of Dover; grandchildren, Shane Walton, Lindsay Roberts, Lori Holt and Ryan and Troy Pietsch and six great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 2 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Robert West and Dave Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in the East Avenue Cemetery at New Philadelphia. Following the burial, a funeral luncheon will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
