Harry D. Maurer, 81, of Dover died Monday, May 14, 2001 at his home following a brief illness.
He retired in 1982 from Gradall after 31 years of service.
Born February 26, 1920 in Rome Twp., Ashtabula County, Ohio he was a son of the late Jacob and Edith Lanzer Maurer.
He was a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Dover, Dover Elks and VFW. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling, cards and, he played basketball at Dover High School. He was also an Army Veteran of WW II.
Harry is survived by his wife Alice Fisher Maurer with whom he celebrated 55 years of marriage on April 6, 2001.
He is also survived by two sons: Don Maurer and Margaret Ann Brunner of Dover
Bob and Fran Maurer of El Dorado, CA
Two sisters: Shirley and Jim Thomas of Canton
Donna and David Judy of Beach City
Three grandchildren: Jacob, Anne and David
He was also preceded in death by six brothers: Gilbert, Lyle, Willard, Paul, Earl and
Clyde ''Monk'' Maurer.
Three sisters: Inez Ensman, Elva Stahlecker and Edith Furguson.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2001 at 11:00 am in the St. Johns United Church of Christ at Dover with Rev. Steve Daniels officiating. Interment will be at Dover Burial Park. Friends can call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover on Wednesday from 7-9 pm, with Elks services starting at 6:30 pm.
