Harry "Duane" Allison, 84, of New Philadelphia entered eternity on Sunday, April 3, 2016 in the Community Hospice House.
Born June 24, 1931 in Dover he was a son of the late Harry and Amanda Powell Allison. Duane was also preceded in death by his sister and brother in law, Ellen and Floyd Lawver; father and mother in law, Alvin and Marie Moser; in laws, Alvin E. Moser, Merlyn "Mike" Keener, Jane and Len Liotti.
He graduated from Dover High School in 1950 and started working for Gradall Industries, where he retired in 1992 as a supervisor after 42 years of service. He was a faithful member of the First Christian Church in New Philadelphia where he held numerous offices throughout the years. Duane was also a member of the Gideons, Tusco Traveliers and the Good Sam Camping Club. He enjoyed working the family farm on Crooked Run Road, camping and traveling to nearly all 50 states with Carol in their motor home. He had a passion for woodworking and made many items for his children and grandchildren.
Duane is survived by his wife of 64 years, Carol Moser Allison whom he married on August 19, 1951; children, Robert (Donna) Allison of New Philadelphia, Richard (Cindy) Allison of North Canton, Timothy (Linda) Allison of Massillon, Cindy (Karl) Widder of Dover, Beth (KJ) Custer of Waikoloa, HI, and Mark (Linda) Allison of Troutville, VA; sister, Karen (Bob) Vandall; sisters in law, Doris Keener, Frances Moser; brothers and sisters in law, Joe and Peggy Osburn, David and Cherry Moser and Janet and Scott Robinson. He was also a loving and beloved grandfather to 19 grandchildren and 24 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 8 at 11:00 am in the First Christian Church at New Philadelphia with Pastor Jim Borton officiating. Interment will be in the Crooked Run Methodist Cemetery. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Thursday from 4-7 pm.
