Harry E. Hostetler, 83, of Dover, died peacefully Monday evening, February 7, 2005 under Hospice care in Union Hospital.
Born July 28, 1921 at Shanesville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Percy R. and Orpha G. Harmon Hostetler.
Harry had worked for the Gradall Company at New Philadelphia. He retired in 1983 after many years with the company as a welder.
An Army veteran who proudly served his country in the Army during World War II, Harry was a life member of Bolivar American Legion post 19. He was also a member of 40 et 8, and life member of the Dover Army-Navy Garrison, Dover VFW and Dover Eagles.
He enjoyed the times he spent driving cars for Humpries Auto City and the occasional trip to Wheeling to watch the dog races.
Harry is survived by the love of his life, R. Irene Baker Hostetler. The couple was married on August 16, 1941.
In addition to his wife, Harry is survived by: two daughters, Harriet Hidey and Sandra K. Espenschied, both of Dover; a sister, Mary Jean Kyler of Dover; eight grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and a great-great grandson; many loving nieces and nephews; his best friend Lowell Addison of Dover; and his faithful dog Penny.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by a daughter, Dolores Snyder and an infant brother.
A funeral service that celebrates Harry�(TM)s life will be held Friday, February 11, at 11:00 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover with Pastor George Reichman officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Military rites will be shared at the grave by many of his longtime friends who serve on the funeral detail for the Bolivar American Legion. Following the burial, Harry�(TM)s family will receive friends at a reception held in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
Friends may call in the Funeral Home on Thursday from 5-8 p.m.
