Harry H. Fockler, 90, of Country Club Retirement Campus, Dover, and a long-time resident of Crooked Run Road, New Philadelphia, died Wednesday, August 4, 2004, at Country Club.
Born February 17, 1914, in New Philadelphia, he was a son of the late Walter and Marie Chalmers Fockler. Harry graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1936, and went on to work for the Reeves Steel Mill of Dover, retiring in 1978 after forty-two years of service. He was a member of Crooked Run United Methodist Church, New Philadelphia.
Harry enjoyed working with his hands, and was almost always involved with a project. He especially liked gardening, painting and all sorts of crafts. Often, on Sunday afternoons, Harry made chocolate fudge for his family which they were very fond of.
Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Mae (Ron) Schworm of Howell, Michigan, and Esther Fae (Danny) Murray of Dover; a son, David John (Carol) Fockler of Newcomerstown; six grandchildren, Emily (Mike) Miller, Matthew (Kathleen) Fockler, Andrea Mae (Mike) Penner, Aaron (Lisa) Fockler, Gabriel (Lindsay) Pringle, Rachel (Adam) Ciereszewski and Stephanie Jean Fockler; three great-grandchildren, Maggie Lou and Javid Miller and Chandler Ciereszewski (and another great grandchild expected in January of 2005); a sister-in-law, Leona Fockler of Stone Creek; several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his beloved wife of fifty-seven years, Mary Mae Vogel Fockler, on January 7, 2001; a son, Paul Melvin Fockler; two brothers, Edwin W. and Lester Fockler; and a son-in-law, Eugene Pringle, Jr.
A service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, August 7, at 10 a.m., in Crooked Run United Methodist Church. Rev. George Reichman will officiate. Burial will be in the church�(TM)s cemetery. Following the committal, there will be a meal at the church.
