Harry Heid

Harry Heid, 91, of Strasburg died Saturday, January 20, 2001 at his residence following a brief illness.

He retried in 1974 from Tyson Bearings (SKF Industries) in Massillon after 31 years of service, and had also worked at Spidell Printing in Strasburg.

Born June 26, 1909 in Strasburg he was a son of the late Albert and Edna Molebash Heid.

He was a member of Church of Christ in Dover, where he served as a deacon, and the Greater Canton Traffic Club. He also served as the Strasburg Village Clerk for 24 years, Zoning Board of Appeals for eight years, Billing Clerk of the Water & Sewer Department and served two terms on the Strasburg Board of Education. In his spare time he enjoyed watching all sports.

Harry is survived by his wife F. Maxine Simmers Heid with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage.

He is also survived by two daughters: Laurel Blackburn of Winchester, Tennessee
Jeannette and Randall Chapman of Winchester, VA

Two sons: John Heid of Upland, California
Dave and Angela Heid of El Dorado, Arkansas

11 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren.

He was also preceded in death by two sisters: Ruby Philabaum

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2001 at 1:00 pm at the Church of Christ in Dover with Randy Chapman and Jim Gillaspie officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover on Monday from 6-8 pm, and one hour prior to the service at the church.
