Harry Hutras Jr., 81, of Dover died Saturday, December 29, 2007 at Union Hospital.
Born June 26, 1926 in Dover he was a son of the late Harry Sr. and Maude Edwards Hutras. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Chadrue and Marijane Judy; his brother, Louis Hutras and his brother-in-law; Norm Chadrue.
Harry was a bricklayer and he worked for William Hutras Builders for many years. He was an extremely talented craftsman, and his list of building accomplishments throughout Dover was great. Harry was also a fabulous chef; he enjoyed nothing more than to cook large gourmet Greek meals for his family and friends. He even had an article printed in the Times-Reporter about his many famous Greek Easter(TM)s. Harry(TM)s other love was winemaking and the numerous awards he received were a testament to that fact. He also enjoyed riding his Harley, and who could ever forget, his love for his dogs. Harry was very proud of his Greek Heritage and was able to fulfill a lifelong dream in 2006 by traveling to Greece, and visiting the home of his late father. He also served in the Merchant Marines and the US Army during WW II.
A wonderful and loving father and grandfather, Harry will be sadly missed by his four daughters, Caresse (George) Hutras-Hanshaw of Dover, Dana (Steven) Wilson of Texas, Kim (Greg) Gurney of Dover and Marcia (Stephen) Todd of Navarre; former wife, Joan Beitner; three brothers, William (Barbara) Hutras of Dover, Thomas (Mary Lou) Hutras of Dover and Alexander (Rita) Hutras of New Mexico; eight grandchildren, Tracey, Sarah, Erica, Aaron, Nadine, Feron, England and Giovanna; three great grandchildren, Michael, Caleb and Calysta, a broher-in-law, James Judy; a sister-in-law, Clara Hutras and many nieces and nephews as well as his dog, Protos.
A celebration of Harry(TM)s life will be held on Thursday, January 3, 2008 at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover with his son in law, Stephen Todd officiating.
