Harry O. Root

Harry O. Root, 90, of Strasburg passed away at his home on Sunday, January 21, 2018.

Born November 18, 1927 in Millersburg, he was a son of the late John and Lucy Mackey Root. Harry was also preceded in death by six brothers, John, Jim, Don, Lloyd, Mike and Clint Root; sister, Ethel Baughman and an infant sister.

Harry proudly served his country with the United States Army, following his discharge; he worked at East Ohio Gas where he retired in 1990 after 40 years of service. He was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church, and in his free time, he enjoyed watching all sports.

Harry is survived by his wife of 27 years, Mary Radcliff Root, whom he married on September 5, 1990; children, Randy (Bonnie) Root, Kelly (George) Teischinger both of Strasburg, Cindy (Ralph) Shidaker of Dover, Troy Root of Youngstown; four grandchildren, Adam, Ashley, Kara and Christopher and four great grandchildren.

Cremation has been entrusted to the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover. Private graveside services will be held at a later date. Those wishing to express their fondest memories of Harry may do so by visiting the online obituaries on the funeral home’s website.
