Hazel Charline Lebold, 91, of New Philadelphia, died Tuesday, October 30, 2001 at Country Club Retirement Center in Dover.
She was born in Dover, February 7, 1910 to Eli & Etta Herman and was married 61 years to Calvin C. Lebold who preceded her in death in 1992. Also preceding her in death were sister Mame, Helen and a brother Howard.
She is survived by her sons James (Eleanora), New Philadelphia and John (Jo) of Perrysburg, Ohio, sister Isabel, Massillon, Grandchildren, Rick Lebold, Vicky Beamer, Jennifer Clark, Jill Lebold and Jerold Lebold. Great grandchildren, Chelsea, Heath and Lance Lebold, Andrea and Carson Beamer, Anna Lebold and Madyson Clark.
She owned and operated a beauty shop at her home in Dover prior to moving to New Philadelphia in 1944.
Hazel was a member of Grace Lutheran Church at Dover since 1924 and was an assistant in the nursery school on Sundays for 25 years.
Hazel was a Red Cross volunteer for 37 years serving as a Gray Lady at Union Hospital in Dover and as a motor service bus driver transporting children to special education service schools.
During the Second World War, Hazel was a Salvation Army Canteen volunteer at Dennison, where women prepared and served food and refreshments to service men traveling through Dennison on troop trains. She was one of 100 Rebeka Lodge Members who worked at the canteen. She was a member of the Reliable Rebeka Lodge for 73 years in Dover and New Philadelphia.
Private services for the immediate family will be held Monday, November 5, at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover. Interment will be in the Maple Grove Cemetery at Dover. Friends may call in the funeral home on Sunday from 5-8pm.
