Hazel J. Pringle, 88, of Dover passed away on Monday, July 1, 2013 at Hennis Care Centre in Bolivar.
Born on May 22, 1925 in Uhrichsville, she was the daughter of the late Roland and Marie Bean Hawk. She is also preceded in death by three brothers; Russell, Clyde, and Edwin Hawk; a sister, Shirley Hawk; and her son in-law; Steve Chenevey. She was a 1943 graduate of Dover High School. On January 31, 1948, she married George Pringle, who survives.
Hazel was one of four women that were employed at Shenango Penn Mold in the machine shop during World War II. She retired from Waynedale High School in Apple Creek, where she worked as a cook in the cafeteria for many years. Hazel was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia where she involved with the Senior Group. She was also a member of the Apple Creek American Legion Auxiliary.
She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and quilting. At the age of 75, she decided to make a quilt for each one of her children. She also enjoyed traveling with George in their motor home for many years.
In addition to her husband, George, she will be sadly missed by her two sons; Larry (Teresa) Pringle of Fort Calhoun, Nebraska, Mark (Kim) Pringle of Venice, Florida; daughter, Rebecca Chenevey of Wooster, Ohio; sister, Doris Clay of Dover along with nine grandchildren; Marne, Emily, rosie, Alissa, Jarrod, Paige, Ashley, Matt, and Amanda; and five great-grandkids, Kameron, Jefferey, Elliott, Hannah, William.
A celebration of Hazel's life will take place at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home& Crematory in Dover on Saturday, July 6, 2013 at 11:00 am with Pastor Tim McCollum officiating. Interment will take place at Dover Burial Park. Following the service of committal, a meal will be served at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00-7:00 pm. The family would like to thank the staff, and all involved in the care of Hazel, while she was at Hennis Care Centre.
