Heath L. Showers, 43, of Dover died unexpectedly Sunday, March 9, 2014 while doing what he loved, ice fishing on Lake Mohawk.
Heath was a self employed mechanic.
Born March 21, 1971 in Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Heath is the son of Rod and Beth (Mutschelknaus) Showers of Dover.
He was a member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover. He was an avid outdoorsman having enjoyed fishing and boating. He was also active in the Dover Soccer Association having provided assistance to its various activities. He was a 1989 graduate of Dover High School.
Heath was an organ donor and nearly 70 people will benefit from his gift of life.
In addition to his parents, he will be sadly missed by his wife Jodi (Warren) Showers with whom he would have celebrated 17 years of marriage this June 7; two children, Ian and Emily; a brother, Josh (Caroline) Showers of Jamestown, North Carolina; his grandmother, Shirley Showers of Sugarcreek; brother in law, Eric Oliver of Missouri; his father and mother in law, Dawn and Dennis Oliver of Malvern and nieces, Ashlyn and Lauren. He is also survived by numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ethel and Glen Mutschelknaus and paternal grandfather, James Showers.
A celebration of Heath's life will be held Friday, March 14, 2014 beginning at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Shelly Nordine officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends will be received Thursday from 4-8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Heath Showers Children's Educational Fund, c/o Dover-Phila Federal Credit Union, 119 Fillmore Ave., Dover, Ohio 44622 to be used for the future education of his children.
