Heber “Jay” Patton, 91, of Strasburg died on Sunday,
August 19, 2007 in Park Village Health Care Center in
Dover.
Born March 18, 1916 in Dover, he was the son of the late Heber and Daisy Baker Patton. He married the love of his life, Martha Wallick-Patton who precedes him in death.
He worked for Wallick Coal and Limestone for over 30 years and retired from Fluorocarbon in 1982. He also owned and operated Columbia Wheel Company in Strasburg.
He loved being outdoors and looked forward to his annual trip to Canada where he enjoyed playing cards, fishing and water skiing. Jay had an extraordinary love for animals. He was a life long member of the Dover Moose and served as a Charter President for the United Steelworkers #8560. He was also the past president of the Strasburg Booster Club and Dover Boat and Ski Club.
Survivors include: a daughter, Sandy (Floyd) Warren of
Clayton, California; six grandchildren, John Krempel of Virginia, Cathy Krempel (and her companion, Dale Reiger) of Strasburg, Scott (Theresa) Warren of Saratoga California, Kirsten (Mike) Morris of Belmont, California, Danielle Patton (and her fiancé, Ryan Tedesco) of New Philadelphia, and Brett Patton of Columbus, Ohio; three great grandchildren, Amber Krempel of Bolivar, Ohio, Christopher and Kimberly Krempel both of New Philadelphia, three great great grandchildren, Kaylah and Alyssa Ullom both of Bolivar and Daxton Morris of Belmont, California;
and two nephews, John (Grace) Burrier of Bolivar and Jimmy (Sis) Wallick of New Philadelphia, and his close friend Glen Lautenschleger.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Mildred Flesher; his daughter Thelma “Dalene” Krempel; and his son, Michael Patton.
A celebration of Jay�(TM)s life will be held at the
Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory in Dover on
Monday, August 27, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. It will be a time of remembrance. The family asks that friends bring stories and memories of Jay to share. Jay will be buried at Ridgecrest Memory Gardens in Dover. Following the gathering at the cemetery, friends are invited back to the Toland Herzig Monarch Center, which is located on the Boulevard in Dover for a luncheon. Calling hours will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, August 26, 2007 from 1-3 pm. Those unable to attend or who may wish to express a fond memory of Jay may sign the online register book by
