Heiny E. Yenny

Heiny E. Yenny, 81, of Strasburg, Ohio died Tuesday, February 5, 2008 in Union Hospital at Dover following a brief illness.

Heiny owned and operated Yenny's Glass & Mirror in Strasburg founded by his father. He was also an employee of the Strasburg office of the U.S. Postal service from 1951-1976.

Born March 24, 1926 in Biel, Switzerland, he was the son of the late Hans and Bertha (Sutter) Yenny.

Heiny was an active member of St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg where he served on church council and was a former Elder and Deacon. He was also a member of the Strasburg Lions Club, the Charles Hofer Post of the American Legion in Strasburg, and the North American Swiss Alliance. He was a 1944 graduate of Strasburg High School and attended Kent State University. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

In addition to his parents, Heiny was preceded in death by his wife, Donna Griesen Yenny who died in 1973.

He is survived by three children Gay (Tom) Murphy and Wade (Shari) Yenny both of Strasburg and Drinda (Ed) Yenny Sulin of Melbourne, Florida; four grandchildren, Ryan (Jeneal) Murphy of Dover, Shawna (Chad) Wells of New Philadelphia, Chase and Brianna Yenny both of Strasburg along with two great grandchildren, Brandt Wells and Kenzie Murphy.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 9, 2008 at 11am in the St. John United Church of Christ in Strasburg with Pastor Gary Friend officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg where the American Legion in Strasburg will conduct military graveside services. Friends may call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory in Strasburg on Friday from 5-8pm and Saturday from 10-11am at the church.
