Helen E. Maurer, 75, of New Philadelphia died Tuesday, January 16, 2007 at the Country Club Retirement Center.
Helen was a homemaker and a well-known waitress at many different restaurants throughout Dover and New Philadelphia
Born October 18, 1931 in Uhrichsville she was a daughter of the late Raymond Swauger and Wilma Harshey Cole. She was also preceded in death by her stepfather, William Cole.
She attended the Nazarene Church in New Philadelphia, was a member of the Dover Moose and Eagles Auxiliary and was a life member of the Dover VFW Auxiliary.
Helen is survived by her husband, Maurice R. Maurer with whom she celebrated 57 years of marriage on December 16, 2006.
She is also survived by a son, Ron Maurer and fiancé, Kathy Masters of New Philadelphia; daughter, Darlene (Keith) Dessecker of Dover; three grandchildren, Chris and Tim Schaar, Shawn Boughner; four great grandchildren, Derek Schaar, Taylor Cockran, Cameron Russell and Parker Boughner.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 19, 2007 at 2:00 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover with Rev. Harry Milligan officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park. Friends can call at the funeral home on Thursday from 6-8 pm.
