Helen Louise (Lieser) Fisher, 80, of 199 North Star Dr. N.W., Dover, Ohio died Monday, July 3, 2006 in Aultman Hospital in Canton following complications from surgery.
Helen was a retired schoolteacher having taught in the Dover Schools for 28 years. She also taught three years in Pontiac, Michigan and two years in Tuscarawas.
She was a life member of St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ in Dover. She was also a life member of the Retired Teachers of Tuscarawas County, Ohio Retired Teachers Association, and was currently a member of the Tuscarawas County Tourist Club where she held offices of President and past secretary. She previously volunteered for Mobile Meals and enjoyed playing bridge where she belonged to bridge and joss clubs.. She especially loved her family and enjoyed spending time with them.
She was a former member of the Kappa Delta Phi, an honorary teacher�(TM)s sorority and a former volunteer for Hospice of Tuscarawas County and its Browse and Buy. She was a 1943 graduate of Dover High School and received a B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Bowling Green State University in 1947.
She was born August 6, 1925 in Dover, Ohio, the daughter of the late Walter and Irene Lieser. She was also preceded in death by a brother, James Lieser.
She is survived by three children Truman Joseph “Joe” Fisher III and his wife, Cindy of St. Louis, Missouri, Marjorie Fisher Keeler and husband, Bob of North Canton and Maryann Fisher of Akron; five grandchildren who were the “apple of her eye” Molly and Caroline Keeler of Canton and Kate, Amy, and Tyler Fisher of St. Louis. She is also survived by an aunt, Margaret Edwards of Dover.
Funeral services celebrating Helen�(TM)s life will be held Thursday, July 6, 2006 at 1:30 pm in the St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ in Dover with Rev. Glen Shedlock officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at St. John�(TM)s United Church of Christ on Wednesday from 2-4 & 6-8 pm.
