Helen L. Smith

Helen L. Smith, 85, formerly of Beach City, died Wednesday, December 8, 1999 in Heartland of Mentor, where she had resided for the past year and a half.

Born December 29, 1914 at Farmerstown, Ohio, Helen was daughter of the late William and Verna Gonter Baker.

Helen was longtime local correspondent for The Times Reporter and the Massillon Evening Independent.  A member of the First Lutheran Church at Beach City, she was also a 50 year member of the Pythian Sisters.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul Max Smith who passed away July 3, 1994.

Survivors include:
2 daughters Kay Smith of Mentor, Ohio
Rosalie (Patrick) Meadows of Roseville, California
1 granddaughter Jenifer Meadows of Roseville, California
1 aunt Grace Baker of Walnut Hills Nursing Home

Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 11, at 10:30am in the First Lutheran Church at Beach City with Pastor Darla Ann Kratzer officiating.  Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Strasburg on Friday from 2-4 & 7-9pm.  Pythian Sisters services will be held at 6:30 on Friday.
