Helen M. Hollwager, 92, of Lexington, Kentucky, and a longtime Dover resident died Wednesday, August 8, 2007 in the Hospice Care Center at Lexington.
She was born May 7, 1915 at Massillon, one of two daughters born to the late William M. Perry and Esther (Detwiler) Perry Zimmer.
In 1977 she retired from the former Shenango Penn Mold at Dover where, for 25 years, she worked as a clerk in the business office.
Helen(TM)s faith was evident in everything she did and her membership at Dover(TM)s First Moravian Church was very important to her. There she was involved in Women(TM)s Fellowship, dutifully serving as treasurer for 20 years, the Hope Circle, Visitation Corps and could often be found lending a hand in the kitchen.
Along with her faith, family meant the world to her. Helen cherished the roles of wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was deeply saddened by the loss of her husband, Woodrow C. “Boots” Hollwager, who died April 26, 1973. She too will be missed by loving family members who survive, including: her daughter, Joy (Dale) Packer of Lexington, KY; two grandchildren, Tom (Beth) Packer of Rockport, IN, and Holly (Brian) Martin of Lexington, KY; three great grandchildren, JoAnna “Peej” Packer, and Jacob & Macy Martin; and four nephews, Duane Weise of Canton, Richard Weise of Massillon, Robert Hollwager of West Des Moines, Iowa, and William Hollwager of Gretna, Nebraska.
In addition to her parents and husband, her sister, Frances Weise, and stepfather, Herbert Zimmer, preceded Helen in death.
Rev. Allen Bergmann will lead a service that celebrates Helen(TM)s life on Saturday, August 11, at 2:30 p.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover. Burial will follow in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call in the funeral home on Saturday one hour prior to services.
Those unable to attend or wishing to share a fond memory may sign the online register book for Helen by visiting the “obituaries” link on the funeral home(TM)s website.
It is suggested that memorial gifts, in Helen(TM)s name, be made to the First Moravian Church, 319 N. Walnut, Dover, Ohio 44622.
