Helen M. Schupbach Humrighouse

Helen M. Schupbach Humrighouse, age 94, a long-time resident of Dover, died Thursday, April 17, 2014, in Community Hospice House, New Philadelphia, following a brief illness.

Born May 7, 1919, at New Philadelphia, she was a daughter of the late Clyde C. and Anna Marie Kratz Bartholow. Helen graduated from New Philadelphia High School in 1937, and worked as a waitress prior to her marriage and rearing her family. She was a loving homemaker, and a member of St. John's United Church of Christ at Dover as well as the church's Joanna Circle. Helen also belonged to the Tuscarawas County Senior Citizens, serving as its secretary, the A.A.R.P. and volunteered for years in the delivery of Mobile Meals.

Survivors include her two daughters, Judy (Jerry) Wherley of Dover, and Linda (Jerry) Keller of Strasburg; her son, Jerry (Cassandra Compher) Schupbach of Canton; her eight grandchildren; her many great-grandchildren; her sister, Jean Shores of Dover; and her nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her first husband, George J. Schupbach, on August 29, 1980; her second husband, Roy C. Humrighouse, on February 13, 2013; two granddaughters; a sister; and three brothers.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, April 19, at 2 p.m., in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, Dover, with Pastor Dotty Hartzell officiating. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Saturday, 1 2 p.m. The committal will be private on Monday in Calvary Cemetery at Dover. Immediately following the funeral service Saturday, there will be a meal in St. John's Church Fellowship Hall.
