Herbert W. Hatcher, 83, of Dover, Ohio died Tuesday, January 18, 2011 in the Country Club Center at Dover following a brief illness.
Herb founded the Hatcher Roofing Company at Dover in 1949.
Born July 20, 1927 in West Virginia, he was the son of the late Overton W. and Vada Ellison Hatcher.
He was a member of the Tuscarawas #59 Masonic Lodge in Dover for over fifty years. He served in the Merchant Marines during World War II. He enjoyed woodworking
He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis E. (Heid) Hatcher who died July 9, 2010 and seven brothers and sisters.
Herb will be sadly missed by his sons Jack (wife, Janie) Hatcher and James (wife, Susan) Hatcher both of Dover; four grandchildren, Kristin (husband, Matt) Scott of Columbus, Jace Hatcher of Lakewood, Samuel and Luke Hatcher both of Dover; a great granddaughter, Addison Elizabeth Scott of Columbus and a sister, Mary Shonk of Dover.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Greg Clay officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife, Phyllis at the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 10-11am.
