Hilburn Jakecobra “Brother” Toles Jr., age 66, of Dover, passed away Thursday, December 8, 2022, in Dover’s Country Club Retirement Campus, after battling cancer.
Born July 7, 1956, in Fredericksburg, Virginia, he was a son of Catherine Ackers Toles of New Philadelphia, and the late Hilburn J. Toles Sr. Hilburn graduated from Stafford High School, Stafford County, Virginia, in 1974. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses as a young man, and because of his deep love for Jehovah, was fervently involved in spreading the good news about Jehovah and the Bible to others.
Hilburn loved music - especially Diana Ross, riding his bicycle, playing board and card games and ChickenFoot, watching comedies and telling jokes. He had a very big heart, was thoughtful and considerate, and always willing to help others.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his siblings, Deborah Poole, Jamie (Gail) Toles and W. Stacy Toles, all of Virginia, Linda Lasley, Renee Toles, Sandra Ballard, Michele (William) Childs and Jefferson J. Toles, all of Ohio, and Melvin (Arceli) Toles of Missouri; his nieces and nephews; his aunts, Ethel Hawkins and Evelyn Toles, both of Virginia, and Maggie (Raymond) Curtis of Maryland.
Besides his father, Hilburn was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Toles.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 31, at 3 p.m., in the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 1212 Kelly St. N.W., New Philadelphia.
