Hilda L. Hill, 89, of Dover, died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011.
Born Mar. 4, 1922, in Barnesboro, PA, she was a daughter of the late Anthony and Lucy Onorato Gelotte. Hilda graduated from Warren High School, Warren, PA. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, and had resided in Dover much of her life. Hilda was employed by the Warther Museum, in the gift shop, a job she truly enjoyed because of the many people it brought her in contact with.
She was a faithful member of St. Joseph Church in Dover, where she went to Mass almost every day. Hilda also prayed the Rosary daily. Her grandchildren brought her special joy she doted on them and followed their lives with interest.
Survivors include two sons (twins), John (Diane) Hill of Richfield, and Jeff (Joanne) Hill of Canton; three daughters, Susan (Albert) Bussard of Massillon, Sharon (Viktor) Beltitus of Barberton, and Lisa Arthurs of Owasso, OK; eight grandchildren, Maggie, Chris and Kelly Hill, Jennifer and Timothy Beltitus, Katharine, David and Mikey Arthurs; three sisters, Viola (Sam) Ferarro of Jamestown, NY, Goldie Hecei and Clara Wooster, both of Warren, PA; many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Hilda was preceded in death by her husband of nearly twenty-five years, John F. Hill on Jul. 26, 1975; a daughter, Jean Rosalie Hill; a granddaughter, Kimberly Hill; a sister, Mary Cerra; and by four brothers, Frank, Sam, Ralph and Mark Gelotte.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 5, at 1:30 p.m. in St. Joseph Church, Dover, with Fr. Matthew N. Hoover officiating. Immediately following the Mass, there will be a luncheon in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center on the Boulevard in Dover. Burial will be Monday, Nov. 7, at 12:30 p.m., in St. Joseph Cemetery, Alliance. Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory, 803 N. Wooster Ave., Dover, on Friday, Nov. 4, 6 8 p.m., and on Saturday, 12 1 p.m. A Christian wake service will be held Friday at 7:45 p.m. in the funeral home.
