Homer E. Myers, 82, of Beach City, died Friday, February 8, 2002 in his home after a long illness.
A longtime farmer, he retired in 1981 from the former Warner & Swasey at New Philadelphia where he had worked for 20 years as a machine operator. Prior to that he had worked for Hercules Motor Company at Canton for 20 years.
Born February 19, 1919 on Mt. Healthy Hill, west of Strasburg, he was son of the late Sam & Dora Walter Myers.
He was a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church and was active in it's Alpha Sunday School Class.
Homer is survived by his wife, Maxine Riggenbach Myers, whom he wed on September 11, 1943.
Other survivors include: 3 children; son Stan and his wife Sue Myers of Mt. Solon, VA, daughter, Marilyn Youngman of Trenton, IL, and son, Tom Myers of Beach City, six grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Homer was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, 2 brothers and 5 sisters.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 11, at 10:00am in the Strasburg United Methodist Church with Rev. Steven Court officiating. Interment will be in the Grandview Union Cemetery at Strasburg. Friends may call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover on Monday from 2-4 & 6-8pm as well as one hour prior to services at the church on Tuesday.
