Horace J. Page, 86, of Dover died Saturday, January 21, 2012 in the Hennis Care Centre at Dover.
Born October 8, 1925 in Dover he was a son of the late Arthur and Mary Leona Striker Page. He was also preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Horace left high school to serve his country during WW II with the Sixth Medical Division, United States Navy, attached to the Marine Corps. Following the war, he later earned his high school diploma. He worked several years at the former Dover Appliance Co., and then was employed by the Dover School System for thirty years. Horace was an avid football fan of the Dover Tornadoes and served as their cameraman for 42 years, first taking and developing 16 millimeter film, and later using videos. He was a long time member of Dover Bible Church where he served many terms as a deacon and greeter.
On June 27, 1969 Horace married Nancy Knight McDonnell Page and together they raised four children, Sally (Dan) Conkle, Bruce (companion, Laurie)McDonnell, Steve (Amy) Page all of Dover and Bill (Sheri) McDonnell of Mineral City. He is also survived by his brothers, Wayne (Barbara) Page and Bill (Juanita) Page of Dover, Jerry (Lounetta) Page of Tuscarawas and one sister, Ruth (John) Samsa of Beach City; nine grandchildren, Michael (Erica) McDonnell of Truckee, CA, Mark (Nicole) McDonnell of Mineral City, Marci McDonnell, Jacob McDonnell, Alex (Autumn) Conkle and Nate Conkle, Katie Page, Josh Page and Will Page all of Dover and three (soon to be four) great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 25, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Dover Bible Church with Pastor Ed Scaglione officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-7 pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover.
