Howard B. Bean, 95, of Titusville, FL, and formerly of New Philadelphia, died
Monday, Aug. 15, 2005, in Titusville.
Born Apr. 22, 1910, in New Philadelphia, Howard was the son of the late Elmer W.
and Sally Hutchison Bean. He served honorably with the U.S. Army Signal Corps
during World War II, and, for many years, was the owner and operator of the
Howard Bean Grocery on Fair Avenue in New Philadelphia. He was a loving
husband, father and grandfather.
Before moving to Florida in 1978, Howard was a member of the First Christian
Church, New Philadelphia, as well as the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Elks, Eagles
and Moose Lodges, also of New Philadelphia.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth L. McFarland Bean, whom he married on Sept. 20,
1941; two sons, Robert (Sarah) Bean of Daytona Beach, FL, and Edward Bean of
Washington, D.C.; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; and a
sister, Jean Smith of New Philadelphia.
Family and friends are invited to call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home &
Crematory, 246 E. High Ave., New Philadelphia, on Sunday, Aug. 21, 4 �" 6 p.m.
A graveside service will be held Monday, Aug. 22, at 11 a.m. in East Avenue
Cemetery, New Philadelphia, with Pastor Jim Borton officiating. The funeral procession will form at the funeral home between 10 and 10:45 a.m. To sign an
