Howard H. Rogers, 83, of Dover died Saturday, July 11, 2009 at his home.
He retired in 1988 from Empire-Detroit in Dover after 26 years of service.
Born June 4, 1926 in Newcomerstown, Ohio he was a son of the late Howard A. and Carma Hagan Rogers. Howard was also preceded in death by his wife, Victoria "Vicki" Rogers who died on June 29, 2002.
He was a member of the NRA and was a Navy veteran of WW II, having served on board the SS Bennington in the South Pacific. Howard loved working with his hands, especially in the garden and on woodworking projects. He also enjoyed coin collecting.
He is survived by sons, Howard E. Rogers and Paul (wife, Linda) Rogers both of Dover; daughters, Lynn Dischinger of Dover and Jane (husband, Al) King of Wisconsin; sister, Janice (husband, Don) Kohl of Newcomerstown; grandchildren, Adam and Erin King, Stephanie Dischinger and Joel and Haley Rogers; great grandson, Dustin King.
Cremation has taken place through the care of the Toland-Herzig Funeral Homes and Crematory at Dover. Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at 11:00 am in the funeral home at Dover with Hospice Chaplain Rick Brinsley officiating. Friends can call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
