Howard W. ''Sparky'' Lorson

Howard W. “Sparky” Lorson, Sr., 79, of Dover died Friday, January 31, 2003 at Mercy Medical Center following a sudden illness.

He retired in 1984 from Dover High School as a Physics and Chemistry Teacher after 35 years. He had also coached football at Dover and Orville for 30 years.

Born October 8, 1923 in Dalton he was a son of the late Albert and Lona Nussbaum Lorson.

He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church where he taught Sunday school, served on Church Council, was a member of the Men�(TM)s Brotherhood and the Order of St. Luke. He was an Army veteran of WW II where he served in the South Pacific, and was a member of Dover VFW, American Legion in Columbus, Dover Elks and was a Boy Scout Leader for 25 years. He enjoyed being a HAM Radio Operator and taught many people how to use the radio.

Howard is survived by his wife V. Marie Musser Lorson with whom he would have celebrated 60 years of marriage on March 28, 2003.

He is also survived by a daughter: Emily (Robert) Hoff of Kent

Theodore E. (Mary Jane) Lorson of Dover
Dr. Mark V. (Cheryl) Lorson of Hilliard

12 grandchildren: Eric, Sarah, Ann Marie, Valerie, Julie, Jacob, Mark II, William and
Katie Lorson; Beth Chambers, Robert Hoff and Lynda Hoff.

6 step grandchildren and several beloved great grandchildren

He was also preceded in death by a brother: Charles Lorson

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2003 at 11:00 am in Grace Lutheran Church at Dover with Pastor Brian Nunnally officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Friends can call at the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home in Dover on Monday from 4-7 pm and one hour prior to services on Tuesday.
