Hubert D. "Soup" Prince, 85, a lifelong resident of Dover died peacefully in his home Thursday afternoon, Nov. 15, 2012 surrounded by his loving family.
Soup retired in 1992 as maintenance supervisor from Union Camp Corporation at Dover, Ohio following 43 years of dedicated service.
Born April 21, 1927 in Dover, he was the son of the late Dalton E. and Vivian C. (Luce) Prince. He was also preceded in death by Judith Pearch Prince, former wife and mother of his children; his brothers, David and Dean Prince and sister, Patricia Eileen Prince.
He was a graduate of Dover High School and proudly served his country in the U.S. Army as a Staff Sgt. during World War II where he was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. He attended the Newpointe Community Church in Dover and was a member of the GRA, Tuscarawas County Senior Center and the Union Camp Retirees. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed an occasional round of golf. His family was very important to him and "Poppy" considered his great grandsons the pride of his life and enjoyed spending time with them and attended their school and sporting activities. He also enjoyed square dancing and was a member of the Swing-A-Lings in Canton.
He will be sadly missed by his family including his wife of 13 years, Tina Karlosky Prince; daughter, Melanie Prince Krantz of Canton and her children, Stephanie Wellman (Lynn Corpman) of Dover and his great grandchildren, Alex Bowman, Steven Wellman, Torree Corpman, and Staci (Todd) Abel of Dover and his great grandchildren, Zane Conner, Kyle and Cory Abel; his son, David (Judy) Prince and their children, Nikki (Michael) Jennings of Dover and great grandchildren, Tyler and Taylor Sweitzer, Julia Jennings; Kelly Prince of Denver, Colorado. Hubert's stepchildren, Ron (Stephanie) Karlosky of Carrollton and son, Wyatt and Maria (Bill) Donizetti and children, Regina and Michael; three brothers, Richard A. (Mary) Prince and Donald (Barb) Prince both of Dover, and Gary Prince of Mansfield. He will also missed by his canine companion, Molly.
A celebration of Soup's life will be held Monday, Nov. 19, 2012 beginning at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Brett Faris officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside honors. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7pm.
