Ida Lee Richards, age 80, of New Philadelphia died Wednesday morning, October 1, 2003 at Union Hospital following a lengthy illness.
During her lifetime she was a loyal wife and mother and adored her grand and great grandchildren. In mid-life after raising her children, Ida went back to school and became a L.P.N. She worked for various medical facilities throughout the county.
As a hobby, Ida enjoyed reading immensely and instilled this pleasure in her children and grandchildren. Ida was a woman full of spunk. She wore her heart on her sleeve and was never afraid to tell you what was on her mind. Most of all, she wanted her family to work toward being the best they could be and to stand tall and proud.
Ida was preceded in death by her by the true love of her life and her rock, her husband Leo Richards to whom she was married 53 years. An infant son Irvin also preceded her in death.
Life will be a little less interesting and she will be sadly missed by her surviving five children: daughter Marjorie and sons Marvin and Vince of New Philadelphia, son Eugene of Canton and son David of Philadelphia, PA. Her legacy continues on with her 18 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
At Ida(TM)s request, immediate cremation has taken place through Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover. A memorial service will be held Saturday, October 4, at 10:00 a.m. in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Fr. William Arnold officiating.
