Irene B. Dummermuth, 85, of Tremont St., Dover, Ohio died Friday, August 11, 2000 in her home following a one year illness.
She was one of the original employees of Buehlers Inc. and was also a clerk for over 20 years at Schwartz Kline’s Stores in Dover and New Philadelphia. She assisted her husband in the operation of the former Dummermuth Restaurant in Dover.
Born September 9, 1914 in Stone Creek, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late William Casimer and Della Emma Mizer Lorenz.
Irene was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Dover and the former Womens Guild and Church Circle. She was also a member of the Pythian Sisters and Tuscarawas Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed gardening.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob E. Dummermuth who died March 11, 1994.
She is survived by two sons Don (Joyce) Dummermuth of Dover and J. Eugene (Susan) Dummermuth of New Philadelphia and her daughter, Patricia (Reuben) Lorenz of Dover.
Nine grandchildren Laura Brown, Dan Dummermuth, Carol McCutcheon, Jacob III, Karen and John Dummermuth, Melinda Wilkin, Mark Lorenz, and Melissa Poland
Twelve great grandchildren Chelsea and Jillian Brown, Nathaniel McCutcheon, Rachel, Jacob IV, Abigail, and Madeline Dummermuth, Megan and Mallorie Wilkin, Rian Lorenz, and Kaitlin and Jacob Poland and two step great grandchildren, Rikki McCombs and Molly Cerett.
She is also survived by one brother Earl (June) Lorenz and a sister in law, Mildred Lorenz.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nancy Jean Dummermuth, one brother, Frank Lorenz and a sister, Madge Lorenz.
Funeral Services will be held Monday at 11 AM in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home at Dover with Revs. Steven Daniels and Richard Plant officiating. Interment will be in the Dover Burial Park. Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2-4 & 6-8 PM.
