Irene Dalpiaz, 90, of Dover, passed away on August 29, 2015 at Park Village Health Care Center in Dover.
Born Irene Louise Sikora on August 2, 1925 in Dennison, Ohio, daughter of the late John and Rose (Menapace) Sikora, Irene was the oldest of eight daughters.
She graduated from Dennison High School in 1943. During World War II, Irene worked at the Timken Company as an inspector as well as at Uhrichsville based Goodyear Aircraft which manufactured stabilizers for the B-29 and P-51 aircraft. She later attended business college, worked in the Tuscarawas County Recorder's Office, and for architect Charles Marr. She was also employed for 13 years as a secretary at the Dover City Schools Administration.
Irene married Albert Dalpiaz on October 2, 1948 in the Immaculate Conception Church in Dennison. They enjoyed 60 years of marriage until Albert's passing on January 25, 2009.
Irene was an active volunteer in a variety of community based organizations and a longtime parishioner of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dover. Her hobbies included traveling, reading, gardening, and floral arranging. She took particular delight in spending time with, and speaking with great pride about, her four grandchildren: Anthony, Gabriel, Matthew, and Michael.
Irene is survived by two sons, Larry Dalpiaz of Dallas, Texas and Kevin (Nancy) Dalpiaz of North Royalton, Ohio; daughter, Elaine (David) LesStrang of Arlington, Virginia; five sisters, Marcella (Dave) Lint, Kathleen (Herman) Himes, Shirley (Al) Kocisko, Pauline (Bill) Resch, and Dorothy (Harry) Pfeiffer; and her four grandchildren. In addition to her beloved husband, Albert, and her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Lillian Gasser and Bernadine Sikora.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 2nd at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Dover, with Father Jimmy Hatfield officiating. Interment will be at the Calvary Cemetery in New Philadelphia.
