Isabelle L. Beitzel, 87, formerly of Crooked Run, New Philadelphia died Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 in the Walnut Hills Nursing Home in Walnut Creek.
Born April 4, 1925 in New Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Leona (May) Reif.
Isabelle assisted her husband, Herb in the operation of the former Her-Belle Dairy Farms and former Sunnyslope Egg Farm at their home on Crooked Run. Following Herb's retirement in the dairy business, they built a horse farm known as Her-Belle Registered Halflingers. During World War II, Isabelle also worked on war planes as a "Rosie the Riveter" She was a 1943 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. She was a longtime member of the St. John's United Church of Christ in Dover and was a member of the Brandywine Grange for over 50 years. She had many interests including gardening, baking, and quilting and will always be remembered as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert L. Beitzel with whom she was married 63 years. He died on June 4, 2011. She was also preceded by a grandson, Caleb Doughty; three sisters, Bernice Akerman, Ada Reif, and Helen Jones and a brother, William O. Reif.
She will be sadly missed by her family including three daughters, Judy (Richard) Pollard of Loudonville, Kathy (Robert) Doughty of Coshocton, and Bonnie (Jeff) Schrock of New Philadelphia; a son, Ron (Melanie) Beitzel of Gahanna, OH; seven grandchildren, Heather (Keith) Burkhart, Heidi (Mike) Bontatibus, Richard "Chip" Pollard III, Jarrod Pollard, Michelle and MacKenzie Doughty and Zachary Beitzel; two step grandchildren, Jason (Jess) Schrock and Jerrod (Satin) Schrock; four great grandchildren, Drew and Kate Burkhart and Adeline and Anneliese Bontatibus; four step great grandchildren, Kaleb, Kiera, Jensen, and Camryn Schrock; and a sister, Maxine Lewis of Akron.
Funeral services celebrating Isabelle's life will be held Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 beginning at 11am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home & Crematory at Dover with Pastor Dotty Hartzell officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband, Herb in the Evergreen Burial Park at New Philadelphia. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, Nov. 13 from 5-8pm.
