Iva F. Ford

Iva F. Ford, 92, of New Philadelphia, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, in Union Hospital.

Born February 19, 1911 at Holloway, Ohio, she was daughter of the late Dempsey Chalmers and Oda Mae Young Persons.

She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah�(TM)s Witnesses at New Philadelphia. Iva was a woman of many talents who enjoyed working in the garden with her flowers. She loved music and enjoyed playing the piano for many years. It was her family, especially her grandchildren that brought Iva her greatest joy. She cherished the time she got to spend with her family.

Iva was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd “Raymond” Ford, who died July 12, 1975.

Survivors include: three daughters and a son; Treva (Richard) Valentine, Doris (Joe) Leggett and Gerald (Judy) Ford all of New Philadelphia and Starla and Mike Sobota of Cadiz, two sisters; Caroline “Shorty” Kinney of Canton and Rosemary Ripley of Freeport, 20 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents and husband, Iva was preceded in death by: two sons; Harry “Dan” Ford and John “Jack” Ford, a daughter; Imogene Ford, three brothers, four sisters, one grandchild and one great grandchild.

Due to the current renovations at the Toland-Herzig location in New Philadelphia, a service celebrating Iva�(TM)s life will be held Wednesday, March 26, at 1:00pm in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home, Dover. Interment will be in the East Avenue Cemetery in New Philadelphia. A reception will follow in the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center. Friends may call in the funeral home on Tuesday from 5-8pm.
